Druk Path Trek (Extended)

6 Days Paro to Thimphu Moderate

The Druk Path Trek is one of the most popular treks in Bhutan. It follows an ancient trade route between Paro and Thimphu, passing through gorgeous rhododendron forests and past several pristine alpine lakes filled with trout.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Paro to Jili Dzong (3,480m)

A steep ascent through blue pine forests to an ancient fortress ruins overlooking the Paro valley peaks.

Day 2

Jili Dzong to Jangchulakha (3,770m)

Trek along the ridge through rhododendron and dwarf bamboo. Views of Paro and Thimphu valleys are stunning.

Day 3

Jangchulakha to Jimilang Tsho (3,870m)

Traverse high altitude ridges and descend to the deep blue Jimilang Lake, famous for its giant trout.

Day 4

Jimilang Tsho to Simkotra Tsho (4,110m)

Pass through dwarf rhododendron forests and past several small alpine lakes to reach the high-altitude camp.

Day 5

Simkotra Tsho to Phajoding (3,750m)

Cross a high ridge with a spectacular view of Mt. Gangkar Puensum before descending to the retreat center at Phajoding.

Day 6

Phajoding to Thimphu (2,350m)

A final, easy descent through pine forests down into the capital city of Thimphu, marking the end of the journey.
