Detailed Itinerary
The Approach to Lingshi
Follow the classic Jomolhari route for the first four days, passing through Shana, Thangthangkha, and Jangothang.
Jangothang to Lingshi (4,010m)
Cross Nyele La pass (4,870m) and descent into the Lingshi valley with its dominant remote fortress.
Lingshi to Chebisa (3,880m)
Trek through high-altitude meadows and reach the charming village of Chebisa near its famous waterfall.
Chebisa to Shomuthang (4,220m)
Cross Gombu La pass (4,440m). Trek through wild rhododendron forests and camp in the heart of the wilderness.
Shomuthang to Robluthang (4,160m)
Climb to Jari La pass (4,750m) before descending into a scenic valley with views of Mt. Kang Bum.
Robluthang to Limithang (4,140m)
The hardest climb of the trek crossing Shinje La pass (5,005m) before descending to the river camp at Limithang.
Limithang to Laya (3,840m)
Arrive at Laya, the second-highest settlement in Bhutan, home to the unique and indigenous Layap people.
Laya to Koina (3,050m)
A long descent through river valleys and subtropical forests. Camp at Koina near the roaring Mo Chhu river.
Koina to Gasa Hot Springs (2,200m)
Cross the Bari La pass and descend to Gasa. Relax in the medicinal hot springs before returning to Punakha.
